Last Night of 'Behind the Fourth Wall Exhibition'. Charity and what's to come!

Last week, on the last day of Grant&Greene's exhibition, 'Behind the Fourth Wall', we hosted a Charity event.

After having had such a successful week exhibiting our pieces we wanted to give something back so we chose The Padua Charitable Fund, a charity that helps build houses, communities and schools in place of slums in the Philippines.

We held a raffle and had a spectacle of a show performed by Europe's top Philippine Dance Troupe 'Lahing Kayumanggi (meaning 'Brown Race'). I was happy to perform the 'Singkil' with them (a dance performed on bamboo sticks) even not having done it for 10 whole years! We also had the pleasure of documentary filmmaker Evian Cafun film 'Halo Halo' a piece that revolves around the lifestyles of Filipino families, students and entrepreneurs based within the United Kingdom, the United States of America and the Philippines.

SO what a night and I would like to announce that we have donated a stonking £410 for the PCF! That builds and houses almost two families, Anyes and I are utterly chuffed with ourselves and everyone who attending and dontated to this great cause. Thanks again for all your donations.

As for Grant&Greene's exploration of behind, through, over and into the wonderful aspects called life on canvas we are already booked for an exhibition in Paris, in South London and at The Philippine Embassy, London. Looking forward to seeing you all there!

"Behind The Fourth Wall" Exhibition opens with a Standing Ovation

Rebecca Grant and Anyes Greene opened their exhibition of ‘Behind the Fourth Wall’ at Fitzroy House last night to an audience of prestigious names in the entertainment industry as well as avid art lovers. They were very happy to see special guests arrive such as David Prowse famous for playing  ‘Darth Vader’ in Star Wars as well as screenwriter and director Tony McHale also renowned for creating BAFTA award winning series Holby City.  UK's No1 jive band The Jive Aces went down a real treat to say the least. Top Philippine News Channel ABN/CBS also covered the event as well as documentary filmmaker Evian Cafun. 
The beautifully constructed digital works of Anyes Greene twinned the vivid watercolours and acrylic paintings of Rebecca Grant embraces the concept of the performer as well as theatre in everyday life. One goes beyond the "fourth wall", i.e. the "audience" from the performer's perspective, and feels more intimate with the theatrical piece. It is a must see exhibition ending this Friday 2nd of December.

British Film 'Chakara' shooting in India

I am very much looking forward to flying out to Kerala, India, to shoot a wonderful and moving film called 'Chakara' for Laidback Films, directed and produced by Nick Fletcher. I will be working with some fanastic actors including Ben Richards, Rez Kempton, Clarke Crewe, Catherine Nossier and Kevin Kemp. The film's story is that of a young aid worker who returns to her motherland in the wake of the 2004 tsunami. She finds herself unravelling the story of her mother's death back in 1988. I play the role of the mother, the wild and adventurous character of Kate, a singer and actress back in her day. I have also been commissioned to write some songs for the film with fellow friend and 'Young Busker of the Year' Jamie West. Very fulfilling to be working on this exciting project amongst some great talent!

 

 

European Tour with The Jive Aces Sept 2011 - (From my mini diary)

On the 8th September, The Jives Aces wisked me away to Paris, Champagne and Turnhout in Belgium for some fabulous performances. From car, ferry, then car we arrived at The Caveau de la Huchette. Little did I know that the cave before the 1500s was used by the Knights Templars and a while later The French Resistance. It was indeed a very hot but fabulous gig, packed in room of dancers. Early next day, we drove to the picturesque town of Champagne where we performed at The Jazzabar festival, again another wonderful and fun evening with the Jives and a very appreciative Jazz audience.

To round off the trip, we reached Turnout the next day for Radio Modern. Wow! What a show and a great sold-out audience of predominantly rockabilly fans, and over a couple of thousand at that! Yet again, with Vince’s incredible and genius acrobatic piano playing, the smooth tones of Ian's vocals and the singing of Big John's Sax, we once again brought the house down!

Rebecca Grant at Pulse Light Clinic

For the past few weeks Rebecca has been visiting Pulse Light Clinic London for various body and face treatments in preparation for filming.
