Rebecca's Exhibtion 'An Actor's Art' raises funds for Philippine School Transport Program

Actress and performing artist Rebecca Grant's excellent art work, depicting TV, West-end and theatrical scenes in which she herself was involved, is was exhibited at the Philippine Embassy London last month.

On Monday 11th of July, a fundraising activity by way of a raffle, was held at the exhibition for the purpose of raising money to sponsor the daily fares to and fro school of 20 slum children in the Philippines. Without sponsorship for this project initiated by the Padua Charitable Fund (reg.charity, England and Wales), these impoverished children eventually end up not going to school.

The evening's event was graced by the ladies of Vivien of Holloway - dressed in 1940s 1950s vintage reproduction clothing, while exciting entertainment was provided by the Nottingham Philippine Youth Association cultural dance group, and hiphoppers Jemima and Sophie Padua from Street Vibes Dance School.

Raffle prizes included a commissioned painting by Rebecca, a £50-voucher from Vivien of Holloway and an exquisite double-stranded cultured pearl necklace from the islands of the Philippines.

A total of £335 was raised and already remitted to the Philippines. On Monday 18th July, this school fare project commenced, and within a few days of Rebecca's exhibition fundraising activity, 20 children from the slums of Metro Manila are now happily going to school.
One of the mothers burst into tears upon receiving funds from ‘An Actor’s Art’ exhibition as not only does this give a child education but adds hope and aspiration for a brighter future for the rest of the family.
